LAPS FOR LIVES

Saturday, April 24th

9am-12pm at The Woodlands High School bus ramp

$10 per person, $30 for a family

Includes dog walk, costume contest, magicians, face painting and dog trick contest!

 

Land mine dogs are trained and specialize in sniffing out deadly land mines in underdeveloped countries.  These dogs are extremely helpful and help save many lives and CIA is in alliance with Interact to support a dog!  The cost is $20,000 including full training and sending the dog to a selected country.  Please help with, attend, and support "Laps for Lives" so that we will be one big step closer to saving lives.

Nicholas Kozloff is our guest speaker Wednesday, April 28th.  The meeting will be in the LGI at 2:45.  Nicholas Kozloff is a New York-based writer specializing in political and environmental topics.  A former academic, he received his doctorate in Latin American history from Oxford University in 2002.  He has provided political analysis on Latin America for such media as BBC, PBS World Focus, C-Span Washington Journal and Brian Lehrer Live, and even put in a guest appearance on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.  Though he writes frequently on Latin America for such online publications as the Huffington Post, in more recent years he has focused increasingly on environmental topics.  

 


Texas A&M University to Host Global Issues Conference for Students

The Office of International Outreach at Texas A&M University invites students to participate in the third annual Global Issues Conference on Wednesday, May 5th, 2010.  There is no cost for students but in order to attend the conference, students must submit a global issues project.  Information about the conference can be found on the Texas A&M World Room Education web site: http://worldroom.tamu.edu.  If you have any questions about the conference or the global issues project, you may contact Enriqueta Perez, conference coordinator, at zoomingoutconference@gmail.com.
